1. Water. Use your morning shower and set the stage for the day,
or refresh with a shower when you walk in the door from a hectic
day. A tepid or cooler shower can wake you up and invigorate you.
Start with a warm soothing shower, then end with a few seconds of
brisk cool water to energize your body. On days you feel extra lazy,
tired or depressed, use an invigorating citrus aromatherapy like
lemon or orange to revitalize your senses.
2. 5 Minute Mini. Practice short daily meditations for 5 minutes
twice a day (morning and evening) to give yourself an immune boost
and restore energy to your body, mind and soul. Simply get quiet,
close your eyes, take some deep abdominal breaths, focus on a word
(like surrender, peace or balance), and experience your body and
mind drift into neutral.
3. Exercise. Get your body moving with a simple brisk walk for
just 5 minutes in the morning and evening. Throughout the day, take
a walk around your building, or take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Do chair yoga during a break for an endorphin boost that will get
you through the next few hours.
4. Play. Take a recess break for your mind to reduce stress and
lift your spirit and energy level. Play online games, keep basketball
hoop or putter in your office, or play a quick game on your blackberry
before a big meeting. Your mind, body and soul are renewed when
you break from the mundane.
